Pro Air Flight Attendant Wing 2nd Issue
Detroit, MI 1997-2000
Pro Air was incorporated in 1995 and was originally intended as a sports team charter carrier. Its plan was changed to offer low fare competition to Northwest Airlines and the airline would operate out of Detroit's Downtown Airport. Pro Air received certification on April 25, 1997 and its DOT certificate on May 22nd. Flights began on July 4, 1997. The arline grew in equipment and routes for a short time but by early 2000 there were many flight cancellations due to four different aircraft being used. Load factors dropped and debt increased. The FAA found operational and maintenance discrepancies. The airline suspended operations on Septmber 18, 2000 and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The bankruptcy was converted to Chapter 7 on September 28, 2001.
